Staying active

Staying active is important for our physical and mental well-being.

Exercise influences every system and function in your body.

It keeps you physically fit and combats health conditions:

  • Gets your blood flowing smoothly
  • Lowers your blood pressure
  • Increases your muscle strength
  • Keeps your weight under control
  • Boosts your levels of good cholesterol
  • Prevents bone loss
  • Improves your body’s oxygen circulation
  • Reduces toxic buildup by opening your elimination routes (mostly sweating and breathing)

It improves your mood:

  • Exercise causes biochemical change by producing endorphins often referred as “happy” biochemical. Endorphins relives stress, anxiety, depression, also it stimulates immune system.

There are many forms of exercise. You need to find what works for you the most. And you have to have fun doing it!

Some forms of exercise:

  • Brisk walking
  • Swimming
  • Bike riding
  • Weight training
  • Jump-roping
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Jumping on a mini-trampoline (rebounding)

My favorite exercises are walking, mini-trampoline rebounding, yoga and sauna (which is considered often as an exercise, I explain below).

Mini-trampoline rebounding is a fun and easy exercise.  According to Dr. Edward F. Group III in “The Green Body Cleanse” following are health benefits of rebounding:

  • Opens up and supports all elimination routes
  • Improves circulation of oxygen to organs (including colon)
  • Increases the functionality of the heart and lungs
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Strengthens and drains the lymphatic system
  • Boosts energy levels
  • Lowers cholesterol
  • Aids in digestion and massages the bowel
  • Enhances metabolism
  • May slow the aging process
  • Reduces stress and anxiety (“The Green Body Cleanse” Dr. Edward F. Group III p. 258)

Sauna is great in addition to other active exercise where you move and build muscles. However, it can be considered as an exercise since it puts a physical strain on our bodies, and it has long term-positive effects on the heart. 25 minute sauna session benefits your heart in a similar way that a vigorous exercise does (3).

In addition to sauna being great for our hearts it has incredible other benefits on our health.

Yoga is another exercise that I love. Yoga with Adrienne is my latest favorite 🙂
